The road network on the Faroe Islands is very well developed, and it is easy to get around; 80% of the islands are connected by bridges and tunnels. Every visitor should plan their stay here with the weather in focus, as the weather can be change completely – it all depends on what island you are on.

Only you and the weather set the pace on this trip.

A unique nature, but also so much more; you can explore the worlds smallest capitial, the world’s oldest parliament “Tinagnes”, probably the best preserved old town in Europe “á Reyni”, and the oldest wooden house in the world “Roykstovan”, the ruins of St. Magnus cathedral from the 1300s, Ólav’s church from the 1200s, the second highest promontory in Europe Enniberg (788m) and Nólsoy, with the world’s largest colony of stormpetrel and the lighthouse with the largest lens in the world.

The Faroe Islands is an experience of a lifetime; the islands have a unique nature, a rich history and a rich culture. The ever changing weather with rain, mist, heat and sunshine provides a breathtaking natural beauty, and gives it stunning colors. Meet the every so polite and hospital inhabitants of the islands, which is a substantial part of the experience. There are birds and sheep, pristine nature and isolated settlements.
There is a silence, that only gets interrupted by the cascading waterfalls, and the wildlife.

Day by day suggestion

Tuesday
In the early morning, you’ll arrive at our beautiful islands, after 36 hours onboard the M/S Norrøna.
We suggest that you on arrival day visit the old cultural centre on the Faroe Islands Kirkjubøur with the old cathedral, Roykstovan and the church from 1111.

Visit the old part of Tórshavn; Tinganes, Skansin and the old down-town “á Reyni” – and finish the visit at the Nordic House before you drive North/West towards you 3 nights stay at Cottages by the Sea in Sørvágur.

Wednesday
Take a sightseeing tour to the Northern part of Eysturoy; pass the old whaling station “við Áir”, the highest waterfall on the Faroe Islands “Fossá”, the villages Saksun and Tjørnuvík.

Then from Eiði to Gjógv, where you will pass the view point towards “The giant and the witch” standing in the ocean after they have been bewitched in the attemt to steal the Faroe Islands to Iceland. Then between Eiði and Gjógv you see the highest mountain in the Faroe Islands, Slættaratindur with its 882 meter.

According to Guinness World Records, it is at the top you can see the longest in the world; Vatnajøkull in Iceland.

Thake the zig-zag road from Gjógv down past the village of Funningur before heading back to Vágar.

Thursday
Todays excursions are located on the northern islands; first you will be heading to Viðareiði, the northernmost islands of the Faroes. Here you’ll have the opportunity to climb the second highest promontory in Europe “Enniberg”, and enjoy the exceptional view over Fugloy, Svínoy, Borðoy and Kunoy.

– then via the dam to Kunoy, where we suggest a hike in the idyllic plantation.

On the way back to your new “home” in Tórshavn, we suggest that you stop at the Viking settlements in Leirvík.

We suggest that on the return you drive past the village of Oyndarfjørður and see the intrinsic “Rolling Stones” (Rinkusteinar), where legend has it that an old sorceress cursed two pirate ships so that they turned into stone and forever must stand by the shore and rock back and forth relentlessly.

Also visit the church with the distinguished altarpiece by the Danish painter Eckersberg.

Friday
This is departure day and we suggest you explore the island of Vágar; see the church in Sandavágur,

vandfaldet Múlafossur i Gásadalur

and the village of Bøur before you start your trip to Tórshavn, where there is departure for Denmark at 20:00.
