On the Faroe Islands you stay at the lovely Hotel Djurhuus*** and Hotel Gjáargarður** incl. their good breakfast buffet.
Hotel Djurhuus is a 3* hotel located in the capital Tórshavn.
Meanwhile, Hotel Gjáargarður is a 2* hotel located in the village of Gjógv on the island of Eysturoy.

First you experience the Faroe Islands in 5 days with exciting hikes in Tórshavn, Kirkjubøur, Gásadalur, Gjógv, Klaksvík, Kalsoy and Vágar.

Get a unique experience of this fantastic country far out in the Atlantic Ocean.

Then on to Iceland, where the beautiful hikes and experiences continue.

In Iceland you stay at the fantastic Hotel Selfoss**** or similar.

Experience Iceland’s “Golden Circle”, the beautiful waterfalls, Þjórsárdalur and the capital Reykjavik.

** Day by day **

Day 1; Copenhagen/Billund – Faroe Islands 

When you arrive in the Faroe Islands, your rental car will be waiting for you at the airport.

You drive to the capital Tórshavn, where you will spend the first 2 nights.

Once you’ve settled into your lovely hotel room, we suggest a walk in the old town in the middle of the capital and enjoy a good cup of coffee at one of the nearby cafés.

Day 2; Tórshavn

Today you start the day with a hike that takes you through the beautiful landscape of the Faroe Islands between the capital Tórshavn to the Faroe Island’s old cultural centre Kirkjubøur on the opposite side of the island.

While you are in Kirkjubøur, you have the opportunity to experience the ruins of the Magnus Cathedral, St. Olav’s Church and the old log house from the 11th century, Roykstovan.

The hike is a 9 km point-to-point route. When you end up in Kirkjubøur, you can take the free public bus back home to Tórshavn.

We also recommend you to visit the National Museum and Listasavn Føroyar, located in Tórshavn.

Day 3; Vágar

Today you drive to the island of Vágar. Here you start in Miðvágur, where you will hike the beautiful and popular trip to Trælanípan.

Here you will experience Lake Sørvágsvatn, which is the largest lake in the Faroe Islands. In addition, you also have a view of Bøsdalafossur waterfall, which flows from the lake into the sea 34 meters below.

The path leads you out to Trælanípan (Slave Mountain), which is a rock wall that rises 142 meters vertically from the sea.

The trip is 5 km round trip and takes approx. 2 hours in total. The trip is “easy”, as the terrain is almost completely flat.

After this beautiful hike, you drive to Gásadalur, which is located on the western side of the island. On the way out to Gásadalur you drive past Bøur, with the beautiful view of Tindhólmur, Mykines and Drangarnir.
When you arrive at Gásadalur you experience the Múlafossur waterfall.

After a wonderful day, you now drive to Gjógv, where you will stay for the last 2 nights in the Faroes.

Day 4; Norðoyggjar/Northern Islands

Today you have 2 choices.

Option 1; Slættaratindur

Hike up the Faroe Islands highest mountain; Slættaratindur – 882 meters – this trip takes approx. 4 hours and degree of difficulty “moderate”.

Slættaratindur is located between Eiði and Gjógv.

Option 2; Kallur light house

Drive to the second largest town Klaksvík, where you then take the ferry to Kalsoy, which takes 20 min. Here you will hike out to Kallur light house.

The hike begins in Trøllanes. It takes 1 hour each way and the degree of difficulty is “moderate” – here you also have the oppertunity to see James Bond’s gravestone.

While on the island of Kalsoy, drive to Mikladalur and see the popular and amazing statue of “Kópakonan” (the seal woman).

Day 5; Faroe Islands – Iceland

Before heading to Iceland, there is one last hike – Ambadalur, which takes approx. 2.5 hours to hike.

Ambadalur lies above Gjógv. You walk along the fantastic coastline, where you will have a beautiful view of the sea – a completely unique experience.

Here is rich bird life, where you can expect to see everything from puffins to guillemots.

After your last hike, it’s time to drive to the airport.

The flight time between Faroe Islands and Iceland is just 1.5 hours.

After arrival at Keflavik Airport, you collect your rental car. Shuttle buses run to all the car rental companies at the airport.

We recommend that you stop by the Blue Lagoon and relax in lovely surroundings after the last hike in the Faroe Islands and recharge for exciting experiences over the next few days in Iceland.

Day 6; The Golden Circle

The Golden Circle consists of 3 amazing natural phenomenas and is probably the most famous tourist attractions in Iceland: Nationalpark Þingvellir, which is one of the most significant historical sites in Iceland, the beautiful Gullfoss waterfall and the world-famous Geysir geothermal area.

This day we recommend a nice, relaxing stay in the natural hot spring Secret Lagoon, a visit to saga museum Sögusetrið or a visit to the Lava Centre.

Day 7; The beautiful waterfalls

The South Coast of Iceland is a true natural gem and you start the day with the beautiful waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Sogafoss. Then you continue the trip to the impressive Black Sand Beach (Reynisfjara) and the town of Vik in Myrdal, where you have lunch. On the way back you visit Dyrholaey and Solheimajokull.

Day 8; 4 beautiful choises

Option 1; Reykjavik

Reykjavik, here there is ample opportunity to experience Icelandic culture, e.g. the Icelandic National Museum, the Kjarvalstadir Art Museum, Hallgrimskirkja, the town hall, the new opera house and the city center are also worth a visit. Iceland also has two huge shopping malls and is known for having all brands.

Option 2; Vestmannaeyjar

The volcanic island of Vestmannaeyjar is one of the most beautiful wonders in Iceland with fantastic rugged nature and large cliffs, where the puffins and other birds live.

The ferry Herjolfur sails from Landeyjar Harbor in the morning. When you arrive at Vestmannaeyjar, you start with a boat trip around the islands, where you can experience the magnificent cliffs, puffins, whales, sea caves, etc. Then you go sightseeing by bus around Heimaey and end the day with a visit to the Eldheimar Volcano Museum.

Highlights: Vestmannaeyjar, Heimaey, Eldheimar Volcano Museum, puffins, Volcano Eldfell and – if sun is out – Surtsey

Option 3; Reykjadalur

A fantastic hike of approx. 7 kilometers in total. You hike up into the mountain in very beautiful surroundings. The mountains change colors and when you arrive in the valley you have the opportunity to bathe in a real hot spring. Remember swimwear, water bottles and packed lunch boxes.

Option 4; Þjórsárdalur

There is much to see and admire in Þjórsárdalur. E.g. you can go to the Stöng farm and get an insight into its history. Stöng was coveres in ash in the 1104 eruption, but was excavated in 1939 and has now been rebuilt. It is an excellent opportunity to learn what life was like in Iceland in the old days.

On the edge of the Icelandic highlands, in the upper part Þjórsárdalur, you will find one of the most beautiful, small oases in Iceland. Here are the 2 mighty waterfalls Hjálparfoss and Haifoss.

There are many oases in Iceland, and Gjáin is certainly one of the most beautiful.

Day 9; Goodbye Iceland

After a few days full of experiences in Saga island’s enchanting nature, it is now time to return home – with memories to last a lifetime.

On the way to the airport, we recommend that you drive along Sydstranden to Keflavik and stop at the geothermal area Krysuvik and Strandakirkja.

Delivery of the rented car at Keflavik Airport. Return to Denmark. You must be at the airport 2 hours before departure.
