Terms and conditions at Make Travel

General provisions

Here you can read under which regulations and guidelines apply when you have traded with Make Travel.

Arrangement

The trips shown on our website and in our catalogs, etc. are arranged by Make Travel in collaboration with local organizers.

How to sign up

The agreement is binding on both parties when the deposit or the payment stipulated by the agency has been received on time. By paying the deposit, the customer also confirms that he/she has accepted the terms and conditions for the trip as notified in writing and/or stated in the catalog.

Deposit/Final payment

A deposit of DKK 2,000 per person must be paid at the time of registration, unless otherwise stated for the trip in question. If the deposit is not paid by the stated deadline, the agreement will lapse. The balance for the trip must be paid no later than 45 days before the departure date, unless otherwise stated. Tickets and other travel documents will then be sent so that they are received no later than 14 days before departure.

Handling fee

We have added a fee of DKK 100 to the invoice (only one fee per order), which covers various general costs and statutory insurance.

Payment by credit card

If payment is made via foreign credit card, a credit card fee corresponding to the fee charged by NETS/Teller will be charged.

Price of the trip

The basic price of a trip includes services that will be specified for each individual package. Surcharges for special services will also be mentioned under each package.

Changes/Cancellation/Transfer of the trip

If the basic price of the booked trip is not listed on our website or in our catalog, e.g. booking an alternative flight ticket and/or land arrangement, the traveler is usually not entitled to compensation for changes, cancellation or transfer. The same applies if only a flight ticket or land arrangement has been booked.

Terms and conditions will be provided upon booking

The following only applies to trips for which the basic price is stated in the catalog.
Change or cancellation more than 45 days prior to departure: The amount paid will be refunded less the deposit.
45-14 days prior to departure: 50% of the trip price will be refunded.*)
Less than 14 days prior to departure: The traveler is not entitled to compensation.

*) Reservations are made for high season and holidays where cancellation is not possible after confirmation. Due to subcontractor rules, the trip is not transferable, it is considered a cancellation with subsequent rebooking and the above rules apply.

Cancellation due to acute illness

It is recommended that the travel agent takes out an illness/cancellation insurance (3% of the price of the trip) that covers the costs if participation in the trip is impossible or significantly hindered due to death or acute illness/injury that requires hospitalization, doctor-prescribed bed rest, or the equivalent, of the traveler or spouse/cohabitant, parents, parents-in-law, children, grandchildren, siblings, grandparents, sister-in-law, brother-in-law or travel companion. However, please note that if the person causing the cancellation is over 75 years of age, the liability is limited to a maximum of DKK 20,000 per person, regardless of whether the sum insured is higher.

This protection requires a medical certificate to be submitted within 1 week of cancellation, if the medical certificate is not submitted, or if the cancellation is due to other reasons, the normal cancellation rules will apply. The insurance premium is 3 percent of the risk, but min. DKK 75. The Agency receives remuneration for the sale of cancellation insurance. The amount is paid together with the deposit and is non-refundable regardless of the reason for cancellation.

No-shows, unused services etc.

If the customer has not canceled the trip and/or the travel participant does not arrive at the specified time and place for the outward or return journey, or if the traveler cannot complete the trip due to missing travel documents, such as a valid passport, necessary visas and vaccination certificates, etc. the organizer is entitled to charge the total price of the trip. If the traveler fails to show up for scheduled transportation or otherwise fails to use the services booked, no compensation can be claimed for the unused services.

Travel insurance

The traveler is generally responsible for covering the costs of illness, hospitalization, etc. during the trip – unless the organizer can be held responsible for this.

It is therefore strongly recommended that you take out travel insurance that covers, among other things, costs in the event of accident or death and for treatment of illness, repatriation and loss or damage to luggage. Information and guidance on this can be obtained from the travel agency that receives payment for the sale of travel insurance.

Airfare only/Hotel reservation only

If the trip only includes an airline ticket, Make Travel only acts as an intermediary for the airline(s) used. This means that the airline is solely responsible for the correct execution of the transportation agreement. When purchasing hotel accommodation or other land arrangement services without air transportation, a booking fee will be charged.

Responsibility of the airlines

The participating carriers accept no liability for incidents occurring at times when passengers are not on board the aircraft of the participating carrier. Liability for checked baggage is referred to the airline’s own regulations.

Low price tickets / Separate tickets

If you want to take advantage of the many cheap ticket types available on the market and combine such tickets on different routes, these must always be issued on separate documents, which often cannot be canceled, changed and/or refunded. This means that the customer bears the risk of missing their next connection due to a delay. Neither the travel agency nor the airlines involved can accept any responsibility for the costs of new tickets, overnight stays, etc. that may arise as a result. Special travel insurance can be taken out with the travel agency to cover such costs, among other things.

Flight times in itinerary and tickets

The times stated in the ticket and itinerary are always local times. After the flight tickets and itinerary have been issued, time changes may occur where airlines change their departure and arrival times. Therefore, always check the departure times in the travel documents provided. If the times differ from the original booking/confirmation, contact the travel agency immediately so that any errors can be corrected before departure.

Check-in time and carry-on baggage rules

It is recommended that you inquire about current check-in times already upon arrival at a destination airport. Information from Make Travel or the airline regarding departure, gates and terminals is for guidance only – not binding. Circumstances may arise that make it necessary to change departure from one gate/terminal to another. Therefore, always check the gate/terminal even when changing flights at short time intervals.

Taxes and fees

Some taxes must be applied to the airline ticket itself. However, there are some airport or other tourist taxes that must be paid in cash on departure or on the spot and therefore cannot be collected from home. Usually these will be indicated in the travel documents. However, individual countries may introduce new taxes or increase existing ones without, or at very short notice. They may therefore change between the time of booking and departure, or between departure and return, at the customer’s expense.

Customer obligations / Valid travel documents, passports, visas and vaccinations

All travelers to the Faroe Islands should bring passports for documentation at check-in, etc.

For Nordic citizens, visas and vaccinations are not required for travel to the Faroe Islands.

In the event that this is required, this will be stated in our offer or in our confirmation. For practical reasons, non-Nordic citizens should, before booking, seek information about the requirements for citizens of their country to enter the Faroe Islands.

Furthermore, we should be informed at the time of booking if one or more participants have a different nationality so that we can provide appropriate guidance. If such information is not provided to the travel agency, the organizer is not liable for any consequences that missing entry documents etc. may have for the traveler. Please note that transit visas are often required. Outside EU countries, the passport must normally be valid for at least 6 months after arrival at the destination.

Complaints

Any complaints during the trip must be made to the airline, the organizer’s representative on site, the organizer or the travel agent within a reasonable time after the customer has discovered the defect, so that the error/deficiency can be remedied immediately and with the least possible inconvenience to the traveler.

If the complaint is made directly to the relevant airline or the organizer’s representative on site, you should secure proof of this if the defect/error cannot be corrected on site and you may later wish to file a claim for compensation against the airline. Failure to make a complaint will normally result in the loss of the right to later compensation claims.

Responsibility of the technical organizer

The organizer assumes no responsibility for agreements/promises made between the travel agency and the traveler without the organizer’s knowledge/acceptance.

The organizer assumes no responsibility for changes, delays, etc. resulting from breach of contract, strikes, weather conditions or circumstances beyond the organizer’s control.

Cancellations / Changes

The Technical Organizer reserves the right to make necessary changes caused by lack of connection. If the customer then does not wish to participate in the trip, the amount paid will be refunded, while no further claims can be made. The technical organizer can cancel a planned trip with 20 days’ notice. If it is not possible to find a satisfactory replacement trip, the amount paid will be refunded. In addition, the trip participant cannot make any further claims for compensation.

Force Majeure clause

Parties cannot be held liable for the consequences of force majeure, which with this agreement includes (but is not limited to): meteorological circumstances, technical failures of aircraft, ferries and other means of transportation, (civil) war or (civil) threat of war, government regulations and circumstances that could endanger the health and / or safety of passengers / persons.

Price changes after conclusion of the agreement

Prices are based on the taxes and tariffs applicable as of 1/1 2026. Make Travel reserves the right to change prices after the agreement has been entered into. Price increases may occur due to changes in transportation costs, including fuel prices, taxes, charges or fees for certain services such as airport landing, take-off fees or similar. A price increase must be notified as soon as possible and no later than 20 days before departure and may not exceed 10% of the advertised price of the trip. If these conditions are not met, the customer may cancel the trip free of charge. However, it is a condition that the cancellation is notified to Make Travel immediately after the customer has been informed of the price increase. In the event of a price decrease due to downward changes in the above conditions, the customer will be informed as soon as possible. In the event of a downward change within 20 days before departure, the customer cannot claim a price reduction. However, if domestic taxes or public charges are reduced or abolished with effect before the date of departure, Make Travel is obliged to reimburse the traveler the amount if it exceeds DKK 100.

Discount code

When using discount codes from Facebook and Instagram respectively, the customer commits to the following rules: You can only use 1 code per booking. The discount codes are valid for the standard travel packages shown on the website and when booking a rental car.

Other conditions

Subject to misprints and price changes due to changes in purchasing conditions. Prices are valid as of 1/1 2026.

Jurisdiction / Law

Any claim against Make Travel shall be governed by Faroese law. Complaints or lawsuits shall be settled by the court in the Faroe Islands.
